Entertainment Tonight’s Embarrassing “Exclusive Scoop” on the Jolie Twins
June 10th, 2008, All Angelina Jolie, Angelina Jolie, Angelina Jolie Brad Pitt Photos,Entertainment Tonight of CBS is beyond apologies due to the false announcement that Angelina Jolie has already given birth to her twins. This news was made after a “hoax source that was supposedly from Angelina’s camp” misled the Entertainment tonight into reporting incorrectly that Jolie gave birth last Friday.
Although ET prides itself on setting a “gold standard” in the showbiz industry reporting, this report was one major blow. Sources from the CBS says the birth of Angelina Jolie was first reported on their website on May 30, after Sharlette Hambrick, the show producer, received an e-mail from “supposedly” Angie’s assistant Holly Goline.
Even with the formal denial of Jolie and Pitt’s spokesperson and Angelina’s camp giving out a legal warning to news outlets, Mary Hart reported it on TV saying, “Just this morning, a source who says she was inside the delivery room tells us that yes, the babies were born and yes, mother and babies are fine.” To make matters worse, Entertainment Tonight stuck by its story until Tuesday last week, when the website issued a correction on the “scoop”.
Now, CBS and Entertainment Tonight are concerned that a person posing as a member of Angelina Jolie’s team may have victimized them. Investigations are currently in process.
The thing about this issue is that ET has more than 6 million viewers. Add the fact that Angelina Jolie herself previously said she wasn’t due until August, makes Entertainment Tonight look much much worse. I personally can’t understand why people DON’T just believe what the actress is saying. If she says she’s due on August, then let’s just wait until she does give birth to her twins. If she delivers earlier than expected, well then Congratulations!
