Wanted Scores $51 Million this Weekend
June 29th, 2008, All Angelina Jolie, Angelina's films,Angelina Jolie’s new action-filled movie, “Wanted” has been a talk of town; some saying they’d be disappointed if Jolie acted like Lara Croft, others ecstatic of watching the film. This weekend, the much-awaited film grossed a whopping $51 million dollars in theaters during their first week.
With co-stars Morgan Freeman And James McAvoy, Angelina now enjoys a positive record of a global box-office draw. Wanted was the best June-opening R-rated film. It ranks 6th of the best R-rated movie openings of all time, following “Sex & the City”, “300” “Passion of the Christ”, “Matrix Reloaded” and “Hannibal”
Wanted didn’t grace the theaters of the United States alone. In the UK, the film became the 3rd highest-grossing film with an R rating. The movie took home $11 million in Russia and $7 million in South Korea.
Angelina Jolie’s newest successful film since Mr. & Mrs. Smith in 2005 is expected to continue its great run next week when it goes head-to-head with Will Smith’s superhero action film, “Hancock”.
Wanted and Hancock are two of my top3 must-see movies this season. The third, Dark Knight of course. I can’t wait to see Heath Ledger’s amazing performance as Joker.
